NTUA Professor Y. Caloghirou was an invited speaker at the 2017 ΣΕΓΜ Conference, that took place from 29-30th of September 2017 in Thessaloniki, Greece, titled: “The Consulting Sector in a changing world”. His speech was titled: “Research-Innovation: The Role of the Consulting Industry in the production chain and knowledge expoitation”.
During the Conference, the issues of Greek consulting and consultancy firms, the prospects of the domestic market, the challenges and opportunities of extrovert engagement, modern requirements and trends in international markets, as well as synergies with other sectors of the economy economy were analysed. The conference was attended by lecturers and speakers from Greece and abroad.
More specifically, on Friday, from 11:00 to 14:00, the first thematic section: Internal Market – Status and Perspectives was analyzed partly by Nikos Vettas, Akis Skertsos, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Georgios Tzilalas and the discussants Konstantinos Kalergis and Panagis Toniolos and also by Nikolaos Antonoglou, Andreas Loukatos, Zoe Papasiopi, Georgios Katapodis, Ioannis Kitsos, Yannis Kalogirou and the discussant Ioanna Xanthopoulou.
From 15:00 to 18:30, the second thematic section: International Environment – Extraversion was discussed partly by Theodoros Axilithiotis, Ines Ferguson, Giorgos Kremlis, Dimitrios Halepides and Spyros Papagrigoriou as the discussant and partly by Elias Xanthakos, Ioannis Fotinos, Panagiotis Antonaropoulos and Despina Kallidromitou as the discussant. The evening was followed by the formal dinner of the conference.
On Saturday, from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 12:30 to 14:00, the following two themes were discussed: Large Infrastructure Projects and Modern Requirements & Tools. The first thematic section’s speakers were Yannis Mylopoulos, Sergios Lambropoulos, Vassilios Chalkias, Ioannis Karnesis, Giorgos Syrianos and the discussant Panagiotis Toniolos and the second thematic section’s were Yorgos Koutinas, Petros Kavasalis, Panos Hadjipanos, Kostis Kagelidis, Eva Agapakis and the discussant Theodoros Tsialas .
The conference was closed with an open discussion of which the following conclusion came: developing the country on a solid basis, developing the country with a prospect can not exist with the consulting industry in a recession.
