The NTUA Professor, Yannis Caloghirou gave a speech at the International Congress of the research / educational institute UNU-MERIT held on 26-28 November 2014 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The UNU-MERIT (Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology) It is a partnership of United Nations University and Maastricht University. This conference was organized on the occasion of the 25 years of operation of the institute.
The conference subject was: “Future perspectives on innovation and governance in development”
Yannis Caloghirou speech held under the theme Innovation in Europe and the world was titled “Delivering on the growth promise in the peripheral European countries: How can an “innovating out of the crisis” strategy work in Greece”.
Also, Yannis Caloghirou met with Luc Soete, founding director of MERIT and current Rector of the University of Maastricht (see the relevant picture).
Yannis Caloghirou along with Vassilis Pesmazoglou has translated into Greek and edited the book by Chris Freeman & Luc Soete (2000) “Work for all or mass unemployment? The Role of Information Technology in Technological Change in the threshold of the 21st century”, Athens: publications Themelio. In this book Yannis Caloghirou and Vassilis Pesmazoglou (2000) have written the introduction “Economic Analysis of Technical Change and Technological Policy: The contribution of Freeman and Soete” (p.11-44).
